Ten years after

Author Ricardo Tronconi tells us how his eBook, audiobook and comics project was born in this editorial dedicated to the tenth anniversary of the series.

Twelve years ago I was on a boat with my friend Antonio. While we were listening to the Champions League final between Juventus and Milan on the radio (I was rooting for Juve, he for Milan, with Juve at that time stronger than Milan), I started writing the first story for La Novella Orchidea, which did not yet exist and would see the light two years later.

It is therefore ten years since that October 2014 that gave birth to La Novella Orchidea, thanks to the competence and tenacity of my collaborators, without whom nothing would exist. That story, entitled ‘The Pied Piper’ (actually a series of short stories), has not yet been published, but will see the light of day when I decide to complete it once and for all.

The very first part of the story, while the game remained stubbornly tied, I had wanted to share with my wife, who was having a quiet dinner at a pizzeria in Italy (we were in Corsica), by dint of text messages. After the first few lines, she had asked me to stop texting, because she wanted to eat in peace, without reading my filth.

Twelve years since the first story, ten years of La Novella Orchidea flew by at storm speed, as the Corsican winds do.

Juventus lost on penalties to AC Milan, after an incredible series of missed penalty kicks from both sides. The match had been evenly balanced. Kudos to Milan. However, I was not asked to comment on the match, but to celebrate the first ten years of La Novella Orchidea.

We will continue as if it were the first day.
