Well yes, after months of revisions, checks and adjustments, all the eBooks in our series have been republished. But why this decision?
Ten years with La Novella Orchidea
In ten years, even digital reading has undergone some changes. The anniversary of the series seemed like a good time to initiate some minor redesigns. The comic book dialogues have been graphically revised and corrected, increasing text size where possible and choosing to standardize the ballons in the choice of fonts used. In addition, all ePubs have been equipped with the ability, for eBook Readers that provide it, to individually enlarge the vignettes of the panels. Editions containing both the comic and the story, then, have been republished in Fixed Layout format (and not Reflowable as before). This is all in an effort to make the texts and drawings more readable and usable.
And so on…
The language editions have also undergone revision. We went looking for all the oversights that can happen during a translation, but not only that. We also tried to maintain, in each eBook, the “typical” elements of each language. For example, all Spanish stories now have opening signs before a question or exclamation. Those in English and French contain signs that are more in keeping with the typographical characteristics of the language, such as the use of specific quotation marks for dialogue and quotations or white space before some strong punctuation marks.
Ebooks format accessibility (or nearly so)
We talked about this extensively in the previous article and reiterate it here. The Orchid Novel has become accessible, at least as far as most of its publications are concerned. In addition to the possibility of enjoying some stories with audiobooks, all eBooks (except comics) in fact contain the requirements of the European Accessibility Act to be recognized as accessible. This means that, from now on, everyone can buy our products with the assurance that they contain the necessary metadata to be usable even by those who, for example, have a visual impairment or a reading difficulty caused by specific learning disabilities, such as dyslexia.
The next step will be to focus on the publication in audiobook format of all the Italian-language eBooks in our series, as well as enriching the already large catalog present online. It only remains for us to wish you, as always… happy reading!
